Concrete canoe race
Last friday was the day of the 3rd Hungarian Mapei Concrete Canoe Race in Ráckeve, which was all but short of excitement. Széchényi University boat got broken during shipping, but they didn’t give up. Instead, they worked all night, built the canoe again and fought their way all the way to the podium!
To apply to the race teams had to conform to some serious rules and with a canoe made of concrete. Jury assessed the teams achievement based on technical solutions, boat’s mass and the outcome of the race. The winners of the 2014 race was the team of Faculty of Architecture – Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
The evolution of the canoes is amazing. Every year they are becoming lighter, more beautiful and they lay better on water. The lightest vessel this year weighed mere 59 kg.

The program was spiced up by a Women Concrete Canoe race, concrete jewelry fashion show, dragonboat race and a wacky race.
And where there is concrete there have to be gigantic concrete pebbles by Anita Boldog.
