Hooded robe with raindrops

Make a hooded robe from a free robe pattern.

We lost our robe approximaly at the same time Melly Sews published her Sleepy Robe pattern, just a week before Kids Clothes week – perfect timing! This robe pattern is so easy, and imagine…it is FREE and yet, comes in 4 sizes – 18m/2T, 3T/4T, 5/6 and 7/8!
I did have to do some changes to the pattern, because we’ll be using this for swimming and hooded robe is a must. Fabric I used was actually a SKÄRET Bath Sheet from Ikea. I tried to keep all possible original seems and I was really lucky with the hood, because I had an old hoodie, or part of it to be more exact (I used the sleeves already for these sweats) and the hood fit perfectly to this robe. I lined it with pieces of the towel and I must say that is the best feature. We already tested it and it does wanders for that wet hair after swimming lesson. Zipper was a practical choice, somehow belts don’t work for us yet. P can’t be botheres to tie it,  se we usually end up losing it or pulling it all over the floor.
String of the hood is a T-Shirt yarn I made not long ago. Since the hoodie I used to make this great tobe hooded also had pockets, I decided to use those up to and add a splash of the same colour to the tobe body as well. They are very practical to put swimming googles and a hat away while he is waiting for his class (which does not happend to often, because I am the kind of mum who is always late) or at the end of the class, when his head is already nicely tucked into the fluffy, warm hood.

I’d say this was a very productive upcycle and we deffinitely got a very unique hooded robe:)
